I remember arriving at Grace and Nick's wedding thinking to myself how lucky they got for a spring wedding. The weather was almost as perfect as you could ask for. Not too hot, not too cold but just right. With breathtaking mountain views and peaceful, open landscape, the venue set the stage for a day that felt straight out of a storybook. It was a day full of emotion, elegance, and charm — and most importantly, heart.

Grace and Nick met while working as nurses at the same hospital. A friend of Grace's thought they would be a perfect fit and wore them down until they agreed to go on a double date. Pretty much after that first date they were inseparable and practically living together the next month. What a wonderful friend and how right was she?

As their love story unfolded wedding bells started ringing about 2 years into their relationship. Nick designed Graces ring and did a surprise proposal. For Grace it was an immediate YES! These two balance each other out with Graces sense of structure and assertiveness and Nick's calm and easy going nature. Now let's talk a little more about their wedding day. Their elegant black-and-white reception theme was brought to life with greenery accents and thoughtful details. Each table was beautifully styled, offering a clean, sophisticated aesthetic.

Grace had a first look with her bridesmaids right before she had a first look with her groom, Nick. As soon as she turned around, revealing her bridal look to her best friends, the room filled with happy tears and excited gasps. Grace and Nick's first look brought both laughter and tenderness. As soon as they laid eyes on each other and embrace one another, Grace began adjusting Nick’s bow tie and hair like it was just another day — an example of how natural and effortless their relationship is.

Their ceremony was filled with tears of love and laughter. It was a little breezy and Graces vail fell off, her maid of honor tried to rescuer it but decided to just hold it instead as the wind was proving to be a challenge and to not interrupt the ceremony any further. They did a candle lighting in honor of Graces father and brother and Nicks grandparents. By the time we set out for sunset portraits, we were already laughing about the little surprises of the day. Grace and Nick hopped in the hatchback of my assistant’s car — not the most glamorous ride, and definitely a bumpy one — but when we apologized, I remember Grace saying something along the lines of this is so us. That moment said it all: simple, full of joy, and completely true to who they are.

Even though I had a little mishap with twisting my ankle (don’t worry, I was back on my feet in no time!), this day will always be remembered for all the right reasons.
